RPC Server is Unavailable due to Faulty wlan Driver

Machine: ASUS ROG G752VY
Issue: After a restart, when trying to login to a machine local or domain, it gives the error “The RPC server is unavailable”. Would not restart from restart/shutdown window.

Troubleshooting was remote. User stated they were restarting their machine, when the machine was actually just going to sleep, then coming back on when they pressed the power button. These machines, you have to press the power button, it will go to sleep, press it again, wait for light, then hold it down until it hard kills.

Resolution: Simple restart, with driver update after.

This appears on local and domain login, with and without an ethernet or wifi connection.
A restart resolved the issue. (who woulda thought)

Reviewing the Logs –
Event ID 5005
Source: Netwtw04
\device\NDMP1
Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260
The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file.
The description for Event ID 5002 from source Netwtw04 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

I believe the Root Cause was an error in the Intel WLan card based on the error (obviously), and When the machine was on initially, I could see it in NETSCAN and FING, but pings would fail. The response time was also in the 4000’s range.
